Dr. Emily Pineda
Founded South Texas Arthritis Care Center located in San Antonio, Texas, where she practices Rheumatology. She has special interest and expertise in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and is also a faculty member of MSKUS, a instructional group of Medical Professionals that specializing in the basic/advanced instructional education & advancement of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Guidance.
Dr. Pineda is the first in South Texas to provide cutting edge therapies such as Ultrasound-guided Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for various joint and soft tissue ailments, Ultrasound-guided Stem Cell injection Therapy and Fat Graft Injection for Osteoarthritis of the nee. Dr. Pineda has been recognized by her peers as a Top Doctor in San Antonio since opening her solos practice in 2006.

Michelle & Julia are Rheumatology Nurse Practitioner who specialize in rheumatologic and inflammatory
diseases, integrative therapies for chronic diseases and ultrasound guided injections.

Dr. Emily Pineda
Dr. Emily Pineda, graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines.
She completed her Internal Medicine residency in Sound Shore Medical Center
New Rochelle, New York. She completed her Rheumatology Fellowship at the
prestigious Brown University Program, Providence, Rhode Island. She started
private practice in Michigan in 1998. In 2005, she and her family moved
from Michigan to San Antonio, which she now calls home. Dr. Pineda is a
Board certified Rheumatologist. She is a member of the American College of
Rheumatology, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, American College
of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, Bexar County Medical Society
Michelle Lunsford, ANP
Michelle Lunsford, ANP graduated from Indiana University, Indianapolis
with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. As a registered nurse, she worked
in Indianapolis in a surgical intensive care unit. Michelle returned to
graduate school at Indiana Wesleyan University and completed her masters
degree in nursing adult care. After completing graduate school, Michelle
became board certified as an ANCC Adult Nurse Practitioner She worked with
a cardiac surgeon caring for patients in a hospital setting for four years.
She was responsible for educating patients on what to expect after surgery
in the hospital and when they returned home. She assisted the surgeon in
operation room and cared for the patients postoperatively in the intensive
care unit. Michelle recently relocated to San Antonio and joined South
Texas Arthritis Care Center in November 2010. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her goal is to have an integral role in supporting the needs of the patient by educating and promoting a high quality of life while living with the chronic disease.
Jennifer Zavala, FNP-BC
Jennifer Zavala, FNP-BC is a graduate of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Mrs. Zavala earned her Master of Science in Nursing and specialized in family practice in 2011. Upon graduation with her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society. She is Board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and holds a certification from the Texas Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). After growing up in Houston Texas, Mrs. Zavala moved to San Antonio, where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from University of Incarnate Word in 1997. She brings 16 year to patient care experience in Intensive Care, Emergency Room, Surgical, Radiology, Internal Medicine and Primary Care to South Texas Arthritis Care Center. Mrs. Zavala’s graduate academic and clinical focus as a Nurse Practitioner has been placed on orthopedics, chronic pain and chronic disease management. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals, and American Society of Pain Management Nursing. Her personal Nurse Practitioner philosophy includes taking a holistic approach to treating her patients. She has the ability to mix the helping, caring, and teaching components with the diagnostic and therapeutic interventions involved in medical practice. Mrs. Zavala and her husband are happy to be raising their two children in San Antonio.
Dr. Mrisa Sahai
Dr. Mrisa Sahai graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she graduated with honors. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas where she was consistently rated as one of the top residents. During her Rheumatology Fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, she received formal Musculoskeletal Ultrasound training from the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR).
Dr. Sahai has received numerous scholarships and awards and has multiple publications in the field of rheumatology. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and Texas Medical Association. Dr. Sahai has special interests in inflammatory arthritis such as Rheumatoid arthritis and Gout. She is also adept at Musculoskeletal Ultrasound to diagnose inflammatory arthritis in its early stages. Dr. Sahai is excited to be back in San Antonio and in her free time Dr. Sahai enjoys traveling and doing outdoor activities
